Mycelial Portal

Mycelial Portal is a multimedia installation consisting of hand-crocheted cotton, acrylic, and PVC concentric domes encasing a UV blacklight, and a tapestry (entitled Microcosmia I) printed on organic cotton with microscopic chroma key footage from Regenesis: An Opera Tentacular. The tapestry is needle felted with wool roving, and embroidered with Japanese sashiko thread and pieces of crystal quartz. Elements of Mycelial Portal (including Microcosmia I) are activated in the set design of Act III.

Microcosmia I was also used as the backdrop for "As Microcosm, So Macrocosm" (2021), a performative reiki meditation by the artist commissioned by Gasworks.
